After a long hiatus I have designed to bring new life into Emergent Urbanism. The first thing to do was recognize that the blog format was no longer appropriate to the content. Blogging is a chronological activity consisting of commenting what is happening around the web, and as time went by I felt the need not to comment on new ideas but to revise the old one. The next thing was to build a website design and content management system that supported this new model, a task that took much longer than I hoped (and that remains unfinished).
As such, I will take the upcoming year to re-edit old articles and update them with the latest thoughts that have gone through my mind. Although there have not been many updates, I have been extremely busy in the world of information science, acting as a philosophical contributor to the Build In My Backyard project, and exploring the ideas of complexity and design in broader settings.
The new model of the website will concentrate on two aspects - the latest update to the main text, which will appear first on the main page, and the running conversation across the website. My intent is to make continuous commenting and responding to comments always relevant, and not allow any contributed idea to vanish in time, as they do on a standard blog.
